Whether armed with a sturdy DSLR camera, an iPhone, or a drone, Michael Winter Jr. has a keen eye for the perfect shot. Based in Tortola, Virgin Islands, Michael’s passion for photography began in 2013 when he started capturing landscapes with his first iPhone 5s.
Michael’s deep love for nature shines through his specialty: breathtaking landscapes that uniquely showcase the untouched beauty of the islands. A visit to his Instagram feed immediately evokes awe for the familiar beauty of the islands or inspires a desire to experience them firsthand. His feed is a collection of beautiful sunsets, bright blue seas, and wildlife encounters, from pods of dolphins to flocks of flamingos.
His talent has been recognized. In 2020, he received the Most Scenic Photo Award at a photography showcase held at The Allamanda Gallery. In 2021, his work was featured at The Rise Foundation’s “Wave of Art” showcase and silent auction, and also on the Beautiful Hotels Instagram page. In 2023, Michael was a winner of the BVI government’s “Love Our BVI Culture” competition with his entry titled “Living Where You Vacation.”
