How will this work?

Our mission is to collect photos, videos and documents from the community then use them to create an online resource. This will serve as a valuable and accessible tool for Virgin Islanders everywhere. 

What is an "archive?"

Archives can include a wide range of materials such as photographs, letters, videos, audio recordings, and other documents that provide insight into the culture and history of the Virgin Islands. Personal stories, artifacts, and any materials that offer a glimpse into the past are valuable contributions.

Who can contribute to the capsule?

We believe all stories are important. Whether you were born and raised, lived in the Virgin Islands for a portion of your life or only visited a few times. Your photos and videos tell invaluable pieces of our collective history. Check out our testimonial series:

When does the capsule officially close?

The Capsule officially closes its collection phase in June 2025. Submissions in bulk can be sent to hello@kickinitvi.com

How can I support the project?

You can support the Capsule Project by sharing information about the initiative with others, encouraging community members to contribute their archives. We are actively seeking sponsors to assist with bring the project to completion. Interested sponsors are invited to fill out this form.

Share Your Story

Word of mouth is no longer a sustainable form of culture preservation. Our efforts must evolve in order to survive. A digital approach is crucial for maintaining the cultural identity of the Virgin Islands for years to come. Your stories are important, help us protect them. Over 250 files were submitted in the first month of the project.

Note: Those who submit retain the rights to their images; Kickin It will contact you should we want to use your image in an exhibition. Kickin It does not license images or videos from our archive. For more information, contact: hello@kickinit.com.
