Kickin It has partnered with CultureCon to send five talented individuals from the Virgin Islands to this year’s conference in October in New York City.
This partnership aims to provide an incredible opportunity for Virgin Islands creatives to showcase their talents, network with industry leaders, and gain valuable insights into the creative world.
The conference provides a space for learning, networking, and inspiration and has established itself as a renowned platform that brings together innovative and diverse voices from the creative industry. Past speakers include stars like Tracee Ellis Ross, Micheal B. Jordan, Spike Lee, Keke Palmer, CoCo Jones, Victoria Monet and more.

Following her attendance at the conference in 2022, Founder of Kickin It, Kyra James Douglas said she couldn’t stop thinking about how to get more Virgin Islands creatives there.
”As you can imagine, the overall cost to attend can be prohibitive for Black creatives living in the Caribbean region. Many Virgin Islands based creatives are often stuck scrolling through their phones, living vicariously through their followers that have easier access to opportunities like this. It was important to me for us to do something that would open the gate up a little wider for us.
The selected individuals will have the opportunity to attend a range of engaging panel discussions, and presentations led by influential figures and experts in various creative fields. The conference will offer invaluable knowledge and resources that can help propel their careers and make a lasting impact in the local creative community.
To be eligible for consideration, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be between age 18-35
- Be from the Virgin Islands (both territories)
Applications are now closed.
Applications will be carefully reviewed by the Kickin It team and the selected individuals will be notified on September 7th, allowing time for them to make necessary arrangements for travel and accommodations.
Kickin It is dedicated to fostering growth and providing opportunities for local creatives. This partnership with CultureCon not only aligns with our mission but also reflects our commitment to supporting and amplifying the voices of young Virgin Islanders who are often overlooked.
